How do I assign a Package to a business, and what happens if I don't?

Once you've built a Package, it needs to be assigned to a specific business before any of its settings actually take effect.

How to assign a Package

Open the relevant Business Profile entry

Go to the Submissions tab

Under the Package field, select the Package you want to assign

Save your changes

Why this step can't be skipped

A Business Admin cannot edit their assigned Business Profile, or any entries related to it, until a Package has been assigned. It doesn't matter how carefully a Package has been configured — without this step, that business's login simply won't grant any editing access.

This is worth remembering if a business reports that they've logged in but can't seem to edit anything. Before troubleshooting field-level settings within a Package, it's worth checking the basics first: has a Package actually been assigned to their Business Profile at all?

If a business manages more than one entry type

If a business has other entries connected to it through Business Login — for example, an Experience connected via Business Login: Managing Business — the same rule applies. The Package assigned to their Business Profile governs what they can edit across everything connected to them, not just the Business Profile itself. So if a business should be able to edit both their Business Profile and a linked Experience, make sure the relevant Package has both the Business Directory section and the Experiences section configured, not just one or the other.

💡 Top Tip: If you're setting up Business Login access for a business for the first time, treat Package assignment as the final step in the process, after the Package itself is built and the business is connected to any relevant entries — it's easy to do everything else correctly and forget this last click, leaving the business unable to edit anything despite everything else being in place.
